The gastroenterology service includes purpose built endoscopy suites and offers:- Direct access gastroscopy on receipt of letter or endoscopy request form. Protocol available. Please use referral proforma, available from the secretary
- Diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy
- Banding and sclerotherapy for oesophageal varices
- Oesophageal dilatation and stenting
- Injection of bleeding ulcers and ethanol necrosis of tumours
- Diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP including sphincterotomy, stenting and biliary manometry
- Oesophageal function testing including manometry
- Breath testing for bacterial overgrowth and Helicobacter.

Inflammatory bowel clinic:
FBC and ESR
Liver and biliary clinic:
Liver function tests. INR.
Jaundiced patients should be referred urgently. Please do not delay referral whilst awaiting an abdominal ultrasound.
Please note that patients with Hepatitis B or C requiring treatment should be referred directly to Dr Christopher Tibbs at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, Surrey.
