Coronavirus
We would like to reassure members that we are doing everything possible to keep all at Ashford and St Peter's safe during this current pandemic. The Trust took the decision as of Tuesday 17th March to immediately restrict visiting to all inpatient areas until further notice. This will reduce the number of people passing through the hospital and offer the maximum opportunity to reduce transmission of COVID-19.

We will be providing up to date information about latest guidance and decisions about the hospital on our website at https://www.ashfordstpeters.nhs.uk. We have plenty of information on our website on how to protect yourself and your family including Government guidelines, for example, if you suspect you have the virus and how to self-isolate etc. www.ashfordstpeters.nhs.uk/coronavirus and a handwashing video.

Temporary Trust Leadership Change
Suzanne Rankin has been chosen to lead a very important project for the region about which you will hear more about in due course. This means that she will be temporarily detached from Ashford and St Peter's although we will, of course, continue to link in very closely with her during this period. I am incredibly proud that we have been asked to make this contribution as it is testament to the strength and resilience of our leadership and team at the Trust and the confidence that the system has in us.

In the interim, Dr David Fluck has been appointed Acting Chief Executive by the Board and I have absolute confidence that David will undertake this role with his usual energy, commitment and, most importantly, focus on ensuring on you, the team, are safe and supported during this most difficult time.

Whilst I do appreciate that the news of Suzanne's temporary absence from the Trust may be concerning, I am absolutely certain that David and the remaining leadership team have the strength, determination and expertise to lead the organisation successfully in the interim. I and the rest of the non-executive directors will also continue to make ourselves available to support the whole executive team with advice and expertise as required.

Suzanne will be keeping in regular contact with the Trust whilst on detachment and will be returning to us once her project is complete.

Chairman

It is with regret, but we have decided to suspend members' events due to the Coronavirus. We hope to reinstate them as soon as practically possible.

In the meantime, could you make a note for your diaries that the Annual Members' Meeting will now take place on Saturday 12th September alongside the Trust's Community Day. Venue and timings will be confirmed at a later date.
